Summer Reading Decorations - Tails and Tales

This years Summer Reading decorations had a wild, jungle theme. That meant, trees, vines, leaves and a few jungle critters! Here's what I came up with... starting with the bulletin board.

(Animal tails coming out of books)

These were drawn and colored on white poster board. The books are also colored poster board laid flat with white poster board, trimmed down and attached as pages.

Here's my main tree. Brown crinkle paper that comes in our book orders was used for the trunk. For the canopy, I used cardboard boxes to create the shape. Here's what it looks like from the messy inside...

It's covered in a green plastic tablecloth with leaves stapled and taped onto the cloth.

These vines are green yarn with leaves hot glued on.

My other tree has Curious George hidden inside!

The rest of the room has jungle vines hanging from the ceiling!

As you can see, there are 2 different types of vines. Brown crinkle paper twisted with leaves attached and the green yarn vines.

Any left-over leaves I had were just stuck to the walls in a couple different places.

An extra bulletin board in the room.

Halfway through the summer, it got a refresh with True or False questions related to animals. Totally doing this next summer! The kids have enjoyed the interactive elements.
